Can I become a Petroleum Engineer with a degree in Chem Engineering?

I plan on going to Syracuse University next year as part of the C/O 2021. I've completely fallen in love with the school and can't see myself going anywhere else (I've researched dozens of colleges over the past year, but SU is still my top choice). However, I had planned on doing what my parents wanted, which was major in aerospace engineering. Since then, I've realized I need to do what makes ME happy, not them. I want to become a petroleum engineer, but very few schools in the U.S. offer a specific petroleum engineering major. I've thought about majoring in chemical engineering instead, but can I still work as a petroleum engineer? I also intend on getting my master's in whatever I choose to major in, if that affects anything.
